We are hiring a Senior Advanced Engineering Technician in Florham Park, NJ to support prototype electromechanical systems, specialized test equipment, fiber optic assemblies, soldering, cable builds, and mechanical integration activities. This role requires experience with system-level troubleshooting, engineering schematics, fiber optic handling/splicing, cable assemblies, mechanical assemblies, and experimental electronic systems supporting advanced engineering and laboratory environments.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams, interface requirements, and technical specifications.
- Perform system-level troubleshooting and fault isolation down to the component level.
- Support testing, checkout, calibration, modification, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, devices, and electromechanical systems.
- Work from schematics, engineering layouts, written procedures, verbal instructions, and defined engineering plans.
- Build and support mechanical assemblies, cable assemblies, soldered components, and fiber optic handling/splicing activities.
- Support prototype development, experimental circuitry integration, and specialized engineering test equipment activities.
- Assist with assembly, integration, and validation of laser/light transmission devices and electromechanical hardware systems.
- Maintain compliance with engineering standards, technical requirements, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior technicians as needed.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law.
- Associate’s degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience.
- Experience with soldering, mechanical assemblies, cable builds, and fiber optic handling/splicing.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex specifications, technical standards, engineering drawings, and interface requirements.
- Experience supporting prototype electromechanical systems, experimental circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment.
- Experience performing component-level troubleshooting and technical system support activities.
